NORTH DUMFRIES COUNCIL APPROVES
2024 MUNICIPAL BUDGET
AYR, ON - Township Council at its Meeting of February 12th adopted by By-law the establishment and approval of the 2024 Municipal Budget with total spending of approximately $20.9 Million to fund local projects, programs and services.
The Budget results in a 4.2% Tax Rate increase based on a Rural Average Residential Assessment in the Township. This would result in a $50.80 per year increase for the Township Property Taxes based upon a residential property with an average assessment value of $449,000
The 2024 Budget would raise an additional $680,747 to support Township operations, services and programs. Within the Budget a recommended $13.3 Million is proposed to complete various Capital Projects including:
i) $3.6 Million for the resurfacing of various roads across the Township and improvements to Inglis street;
ii) $112,000 for conversion to LED lights of top post streetlights;
iii) Purchase of aerial apparatus for the fire department;
iv) Upgrades to LED Lighting at the North Dumfries Community Complex and Ayr Community Center ice surfaces;
v) Construction of new building at the public works depot and renovations to the Ayr Fire Station
“The Budget approved by Council for 2024 is the result of numerous hours of preparation and discussions. The Budget continues to poise the Township for the pending growth of the community and simultaneously increases transfers to Reserve Accounts to offset future capital requirements related to infrastructure, rolling stock and buildings. The rate increase balances the principles of affordability and financial prudence” said Mayor Sue Foxton.
