Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Township of North Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services, public education, suppression services, and emergency preparedness. Other activities include:
The North Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department is staffed with a full-time fire chief, part-time deputy chief of operations, deputy chief of training, district chiefs, captains, trainers and firefighters. The department consists of 4 platoons shifts of 31 firefighters. All are volunteers and report to the Fire Chief. Each platoon consists of a Captain and 6-7 Firefighters. They manage five engines, two pumpers, rescue/command, 55 ft. aerial and a tanker. Engines respond to all first aid calls to enhance available personnel resources and treatment. The Waterloo Regional Police Service provides policing services for the Region of Waterloo, which includes the cities of Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, as well as the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich.

The Waterloo Regional Police Services allows online incident reporting for certain incidents where the value is under $5000. For crimes or complaints not eligible for online reporting, please contact the police using your telephone, as they cannot accept reports of incidents through email or social media. |

Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services Ambulance service in Waterloo Region is the responsibility of Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services. Tiered response of local fire and police resources through this centre ensures a fast response to life-threatening emergencies. All local fire departments now provide rapid cardiac defibrillation in support of paramedics. |
