Walking Track |
Steven and Carol Lowe Heritage Transportation Group Walking TrackThe North Dumfries Community Complex has a walking track around the upper area of the skating rink, which is free to use. The track is 200 metres per lap and provides an excellent, dry and warm place to exercise. There is also a stretching and warm-up area on the track. The walking track will not be open during Ayr Centennials hockey games, which typically happen Thursday evenings from 7:00-10:00 p.m. For the Ayr Centennials' schedule please click here. Fall/Winter Hours (September 5, 2023-March 30, 2024): Open 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. |
Spray Pad and Playground |
Spray Pad and PlaygroundThe spray pad is open daily during the summer from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There is no cost to use the spray pad. The spray pad and the accessible playground are equipped with washrooms. The spray pad will be open starting Friday, June 2, 2023 and closing Monday, September 18, 2023 |
Soccer Fields |
Cowan Park Soccer FieldThere are two full size irrigated fields. Com Dev Field has lights for late night games. There are two mid-size fields that are used as smaller fields for young age groups. These fields are also irrigated. Cowan Park has washroom facilities open during the summer months. |
Community Garden |
The North Dumfries Community Complex is home to a large community garden located at the west side of the North Dumfries Community Complex. Families and individuals have taken up plots to grow vegetables and flowers in the community garden. 10x10 and 10x20 plots are available. The amenities that any gardener needs are being made available to those who use the community garden. This includes a watering system that collects rain water from the North Dumfries Community Complex roof, which is then transferred to a tank located directly next to the garden for use. There is also a shed to hold the primary tools of gardening. For more information on the community garden read the Community Garden Plot Application and Rental Contract. |
Snack Bar |
The North Dumfries Community Complex also contains the Breakaway Cafe, a snack bar on the second level of the arena, above the ice rink. The hours vary and the cafe is open during the fall/winter ice season. Stop by for a coffee and snack and watch a hockey game, or sit in the cafe area where the Township has provided free WIFI service. |
Hall Rentals |
The North Dumfries Community Complex has multi-purpose rooms and the larger MacNeil Hall. Fitness programs are run throughout the building by community groups and businesses alike. The MacNeil-Hall can be booked for fundraisers or sit down dinners, as well as pickleball, volleyball or badminton. For more information, please contact our Facility Booking Team by email or call 519-632-8800. The MacNeil Hall can also be booked for an event with a Special Occasion Permit/liquor license. |
Community Health Centre |
The North Dumfries Community Health Centre, a satellite of Langs, is also located in the North Dumfries Community Complex. The Community Health Centre (CHC) team includes: physians, nurse practitioners, pysician assistants, registered nurses, social workers, registered dieticians, diabetes educators, community workers and admin staff. Skatepark |
The Township of North Dumfries, in partnership with its community, has built an approximate 1,020 square metre Skate Park at Cowan Park, adjacent to the North Dumfries Community Complex. The Skate Park opened in October 2020. The Skate Park provides a safe, designated place for Skateboard, BMX, Scooter and In-Line Skate Riders to develop their skills and enjoy the company of their peers.

Off-Leash Dog Park |
The off-leash dog park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is located at the North Dumfries Community Complex in the field beside the health centre. |
Beach Volleyball Courts |
The Scorpions Volleyball Club offers programming in Ayr on our beach volleyball courts Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from May until August. When not in use, by the Scorpions, the courts are available for the public to use, first come, first serve. If you wish to book a court, please contact our Facility Booking Team.
