Media release - Township Hires Director of Leisure and Community Services

AYR, ON – The Township of North Dumfries is pleased to announce the recruitment of Kelly Steiss as the Director of Leisure & Community Services, effective February 18^th, 2026 

Following an extensive recruitment process, Kelly Steiss was selected for the Director position because she has 25 years of progressive experience involving a varied career in working with people.   For approximately 22 years Steiss worked for the City of Kitchener in several roles including Inclusion Coordinator and for 14 years as the Supervisor, Community Centres.  Since 2024 Kelly Steiss has worked as the Director of Recreation, Facilities & Children’s Services in the Township of North Huron.

With her wealth of experience, leadership skills and community engagement practices, Kelly Steiss will lead the Leisure & Community Services Department and oversee the important public front-facing portfolios of Parks & Facilities, and Community Programming & Engagement.

Steiss is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies and subsequently obtained a Certificate in Enriched Studies in the Management of Volunteers at Humber College and a Certificate in Project Management at Wilfrid Laurier University.

The Township of North Dumfries extends its congratulations to Kelly Steiss and looks forward to her leadership and contributions in advancing forward key programs and services to enhance the leisure, recreation and cultural pursuits of our residents.
