Passing of Former Township Councillor Ben Benninger
Ayr – Mayor Foxton and Members of Township Council wish to extend their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of former Township Councillor Ben Benninger.
Mr. Benninger passed away on November 28, 2025. He served as a Township Councillor for three terms of office during the 2001–2003, 2006–2010, and 2010–2014 periods.
Beyond his elected service, Mr. Benninger remained an active and dedicated member of the community. He contributed his time and expertise to numerous Boards and Committees, including the North Dumfries Heritage Advisory Committee and the Ayr Horticultural Society.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community, Mr. Benninger was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Flags at all Township facilities have been lowered to half-mast in honour of Mr. Benninger.
“In his time as a Councillor, Ben demonstrated many wonderful character traits that led to success at the Council table. His heart was always with the people that he worked on behalf of, and he always made sure that his constituents voice was heard” Mayor Foxton shared. “Ben Benninger through his time on Council and in his involvement in various Committees made an impactful presence in the Township. Our Municipality is a better place because of the thoughtful and generous role he played during his life.”
