Victoria Day Long Weekend: Township Closures and Fireworks Reminder

As the Victoria Day long weekend approaches, the Township of North Dumfries would like to remind residents of the following closures and safety guidelines:

Holiday Closures

The Township Administration Office will be closed on Monday, May 18th for Victoria Day. The Ayr Farmers Mutual Community Centre will be closed from Saturday, May 16th to Monday, May 18th.

Fireworks By-law Reminder

Fireworks are a popular way to celebrate, but it’s important to do so responsibly and respectfully.

Here are a few key reminders:

• As per the Township's bylaw, fireworks are only permitted the day before, day of, and day after Victoria Day (May 18–20 this year).
• Displays must end by 10:15 p.m.
• Fireworks can only be set off on private property with the owner's permission. Public property, including roads and parks, is not permitted.
• Avoid dry grass or brush areas to prevent fire hazards.
• Firecrackers are strictly prohibited in the Township.
