Branchton Community Park Feedback - Your Ideas Matter

The Township of North Dumfries is inviting the residents of Ward 4 and other surrounding Township communities to share their feedback about some potential improvements to the Branchton Community Park. Whether it is spaces for recreational activities, social gatherings, or park amenities we want to hear your ideas!  Please fill out your survey online or in person at the Township Office, 106 Earl Thompson Road, 3rd Floor and the North Dumfries Community Complex, 2958 Greenfield Road, Ayr.

The Leisure Services Master Plan was adopted by Council in June 2022 as a blueprint to inform future decision making related to parks & trails, sports fields, leisure & recreational programming, and recreational facilities

A key determinant arising from the Master Plan was that the four rural parks located in Roseville, Brown’s subdivision, Clyde and Branchton were underutilized and could offer so much more to support their adjacent neighbourhoods

The Township of North Dumfries will provide an outline of base level park amenities that should be included in each rural park or new park design, when possible, and with approved Township funding.

“Base level park amenities” for the rural settlement parks should include:

  • Play structure geared to ages 2- 12 yrs;
  • Unorganized open play area;
  • Asphalt Multi-purpose Pad (approximately 22.55 m x 12.80 m);
  • Shade Structure to accommodate two benches and/or picnic table;
  • Sitting area – benches adjacent the play structure; and, along the access path from the street to the principal activity area to achieve AODA requirements;
  • Tree Plantings;
  • Limestone pathway(s) with a width of 2 metres to provide access to areas of focus within the park
  • Park and trail head signage and designation when necessary.

Branchton Community Park currently has:

  • Park is 0.94 ha (2.32 acres) in area
  • Road access from Mary Street and Jenkings Court
  • Property is generally rectangular in nature and relatively flat except for the edge along the woodlot
  • Play structure; picnic pavilion; older baseball backdrop; open space / unorganized play area
  • Abuts a significant woodland area
