Garbage and Recycling
The Region of Waterloo is responsible for collecting garbage and recycling in the Township of North Dumfries. Questions or collection issues can be directed to the Region at 519-575-4400.
All residents receive:
- bi-weekly collection of garbage: 3 bags/cans every two weeks; over the limit requires garbage tags
- unlimited weekly collection of green bins
- unlimited weekly collection of recyclables
- bi-weekly collection of large items (limit of 3 items per collection, on same day as garbage collection)
- bi-weekly yard waste collection, March to November.

One complimentary blue box is available (first come, first serve) for home owners or renters in North Dumfries. If you require a second box or a replacement box they can be purchased at hardware or retail stores.
Eligibility for one free blue box
- New resident of the Region of Waterloo
- In a newly built home or provide proof of a new home/renter (i.e., purchase agreement or rental contract)
Customers will be required to fill out a form (supplied by Region) indicating whether they are in a new home, or new to the Region. Customers are allowed only one new blue box and can pick it up at the landfill locations listed above. Please see the Region of Waterloo's website for further information.
Garbage Collection at Township Parks
