The Township Municipal Office and Ayr Farmers Mutual Community Centre will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 for Canada Day.

Development Charges

There are development charges associated with a variety of building permits. These charges will vary based on the type of permit that you are applying for. 

The Township of North Dumfries collects the required development charges at the time a building permit is issued. This includes development charges payable to the Township, the Region of Waterloo, and the applicable School Boards.

Development charges are calculated based on the rates in effect on the date the building permit is issued, unless otherwise provided for under the Development Charges Act.

Construction may be subject to Township development charges.

2020 Development Charges Background Study - The Township of North Dumfries undertook a Development Charges Background Study to update the approved Development Charges By-law 3122-19. The Notice for the Public Meeting and the Development Charges Background Study are provided below:

  4. By-law 3122-19

Construction may be subject to Regional Municipality of Waterloo development charges.

Construction may be subject to Waterloo Region District School Board development charges, and Waterloo Region Catholic District School Board development charges.
