Sign Permit

The following types of signs require a sign permit issued by Building Services:

• Billboard Sign

• Canopy Sign

• Fascia/Wall Mounted Sign

• Ground Sign

• Projecting Sign

• Pylon Sign

• Roof Sign

• Subdivision Sign

Requirements related to building permits for signs are outlined in sections 7, 8, and 9 of the Township's Sign By-law No. 2491-12.

Portable (or mobile) signs are temporary in nature, up to four (4) months. A portable sign permit is issued by Corporate Services, Clerk's Division.

All portable/mobile signs:

• Must be placed on private property only
• Have a maximum height of 3 metres
• Have a maximum area of 4 square metres per side, for a total of 8.0 square metres
• Are prohibited within:
  1. A distance of 2 metres of a street or interior lot line
  2. A corner visibility triangle
  3. A distance of 15 metres of a ground sign
  4. A distance of 30 metres of any other portable/mobile sign
  5. A distance of 15 metres from any traffic lights 
• Shall not have flashing lights or animated of flashing panels. If there will be any electrical connections made to the portable/mobile sign, it must be approved by the Township
