The Township’s Strategic Asset Management Policy outlines the requirements, overall principles and framework that the Township will follow when creating our Asset Management Plan. The policy will guide the asset management process going forward and help embed sound asset management principles into ongoing operational, capital, and maintenance activities.
Asset Management
Asset management helps the Township manage infrastructure assets to provide affordable and reliable services in the community. Arguably, asset management has been practiced and discussed in some capacity since the first municipal meeting for the Township of Dumfries North in 1819. Over time, the buildings and infrastructure in the Township have been constructed, operated, and replaced, as the small village grew to the thriving community it is today.
Now, more than ever, proactive asset management is required to ensure that investments are made in a fiscally sustainable manner, while optimizing the lifecycle of our infrastructure. To make the best asset management decisions, we need good data, and we need to look to the future to determine what levels of services our residents expect from the infrastructure we maintain, operate, and replace.
Asset Management Approach and Timeline
The Township has completed the process of implementing the requirements of Ontario Regulation 588/17, including the creation and adoption of a Strategic Asset Management Policy and the development of an asset management plan for all of the Township’s assets.
Strategic Asset Management Policy
The Asset Management Plan (AMP) will consolidate the data and information we need to make effective decisions about our infrastructure assets. The AMP complies with O. Reg 588/17.
Council has adopted a Strategic Asset Management Policy.
